The priciple behind the design of this downtown Chicago penthouse is "MAXIMIZE THE MINIMUM." Modernist domestic antecedents and diverse design methodologies were referred to and questioned in an effort to arrive at an idea of a contemporary environment suited to urban dwellers. The minimalist approach to design leaves the spotlight on the spectacular city views, which are center stage, throughout the penthouse. The program unfolds much like that of a railroad flat, with one room following the other. The kitchen and living area are open in plan with large gathering spaces, including the breakfast bar. The floor to ceiling windows seem to invite the downtown achitecture into the overall interior design. living room detaildiningkitchenfamily roombedroomVIDEO PRESENTATION
